About us

About The Plough

Situated in the heart of the picturesque village of Marsh Gibbon, right on the Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire border, The Plough Inn is a lovingly restored 17th-century Grade II listed pub and restaurant. Just a quick ten-minute trip from Bicester Village, our newly refurbished space is now ready to welcome everyone!

Seafood SpecialS AT the Plough

Come and try our tasty new seafood and fish specials, including (clockwise from top left) Scallops Romesco, Moules Marinières, Whole Roast Megrim Sole and Tiger Prawn Tagliatelle.  Superb with a glass or two of our stunning Peplo rose or even one of our cellar-perfect real ales.

As we source and cook our food as fresh as we can, we may be subject to availability when it comes to choice of seafood but we will have plenty of interesting dishes on the menu for you to choose from.

jazz and fizz Sat 8th august

Coming soon! We have Elliot Rooney with his Trio, performing live from 4-6pm on Saturday 8th August.

From 12pm we will be serving a fantastic range of sparkling wines from England and around the World with sharing plates to match: fish, seafood, vegetable mezze, meats, berries and anything else delicious we can think of.

All our other drinks will be available and, weather permitting, food from our outside grill and wood-fired oven. Bring a deck chair and relax to some mellow music in our garden. No jacket or ticket required!

Events

What's On at the plough

Throughout the year, The Plough hosts a variety of special events to bring our community together and add a bit of fun to your calendar!

From Mother’s Day and Father’s Day celebrations to Easter feasts, midsummer gatherings and our popular drinks festivals and promotions, there’s always something exciting happening here.

We are ready and waiting to hold your own special event, from a table of two for tea right up to use of the whole premises for as long as you like. Wedding receptions, business meetings, car clubs, children’s parties, you name it – we’re here for everyone.

summer SPECIALS at The Plough

We are working hard in the kitchen to add seasonal dishes to the menus as our philosophy is to use as many fresh ingredients as possible when cooking. We have added another chef, Samuel (welcome!), to assist so we will be able to offer a greater variety and longer opening hours.

Expect to see some classic and new dishes featuring local game and winter veg coming soon…

Pizza back on the menu!

We are now offering Neapolitan pizzas hand-made from our own mature Italian 00-flour dough and real Mozzarella. We cook them in our 800F+ oven for that crisp but juicy and fresh texture and authentic “leopard spots”.

Enjoy for lunch or dinner, or give us a call during food hours for a takeaway. Great value starting at £10 for a 12” pizza with a range of toppings available.

The plough wine experience

Even though we haven’t been open for that long, we have been continuously refining and adding to our wine list. We think we have a great selection with very good value, ranging from a small glass of crisp and refreshing Pinot Grigio to Grand Cru Burgundy and Bordeaux. We are also starting to stock a limited amount of large formats and have a cellar book of interesting, rare or unusual wines of all descriptions – ask us what we have as it changes all the time.

If you would like a particular wine reserved or decanted for your arrival, let us know. We also offer reasonable corkage (or a taste!)
